Age Concern North West Cumbria

Active Living

Keeping active and being involved in the local community improves both physical and mental well-being.

Our Active Living and Rural Community Development teams support older people to:

  • participate in activities in their local community
  • become more physically active by joining walking groups or gentle exercise classes
  • get information and advice on a wide range of issues, including local opportunities for older people, benefits, financial matters, independent living
  • maintain a healthy lifestyle
  • become involved in volunteering

Our team of workers help people to run their own clubs and groups so that their local communities are healthy places to be. They support clubs and activity groups by:

  • Promoting their activities
  • Providing assistance to access funding
  • Networking and sharing resources
  • Helping to set up new activities

Older Person's Forum

We support the Older Persons' Forum (West Cumbria) who actively campaign on local and national issues of interest to older people.
