Befriending Services
Our Befriending Services provide support for isolated or housebound older people to help overcome loneliness, rebuild confidence, become more socially active and maintain their health, well-being and independence.
The Befriending Scheme
provides longer-term companionship and support through a volunteer, who visits on a regular basis to share a cup of tea and a chat or to accompany on visits or outings.
The Active Befriending Scheme
provides shorter-term support through a volunteer visitor/escort to help older people re-build confidence and become more actively involved in their communities again following a critical episode in their lives.
The Telephone Befriending Scheme
offers support through a volunteer 'telephone befriender', who makes a weekly call to catch up on news and check that all is well. It provides a vital link to the outside community, described by some members as a 'life-line'.
